Farming and Trade in Haryana
Haryana is a major contributor of wheat and paddy to the central pool, and its Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts grow much of India's basmati. It also grows mustard, bajra, cotton, barley and sugarcane, and hosts national research institutes in Karnal and Hisar.
Farm produce is sold through regulated APMC market yards under the state's agricultural produce marketing law, run by the state agricultural marketing board, with many yards linked to eNAM. Wheat and paddy are bought in the mandis by state agencies at MSP.
