About Guar (Cluster Bean)
Guar is a drought-hardy legume of western Rajasthan whose seed gives guar gum, a thickener used in food, cosmetics, paper, textiles and especially oil and gas drilling. India supplies most of the world's guar gum. Tender guar pods are also eaten as a vegetable.

The main guar (cluster bean) districts of Haryana are Bhiwani, Sirsa, Hisar, Mahendragarh. Haryana is a major contributor of wheat and paddy to the central pool, and its Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts grow much of India's basmati. It also grows mustard, bajra, cotton, barley and sugarcane, and hosts national research institutes in Karnal and Hisar.
