Potato is India's most stored vegetable. Almost the whole crop is dug in spring and held in cold stores, and a growing share goes to chips and frozen fries.
Where Potato Is Grown in Haryana
The main potato districts of Haryana are Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal. Haryana is a major contributor of wheat and paddy to the central pool, and its Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts grow much of India's basmati. It also grows mustard, bajra, cotton, barley and sugarcane, and hosts national research institutes in Karnal and Hisar.
