About Barley
Barley (jau) is a hardy winter grain used mainly for cattle feed and for malt for breweries and malted drinks, with smaller use as sattu and flour.
Where Barley Is Grown in Haryana
The main barley districts of Haryana are Hisar, Bhiwani, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Sirsa. Haryana is a major contributor of wheat and paddy to the central pool, and its Karnal, Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts grow much of India's basmati. It also grows mustard, bajra, cotton, barley and sugarcane, and hosts national research institutes in Karnal and Hisar.
