About Barley
Barley (jau) is a hardy winter grain used mainly for cattle feed and for malt for breweries and malted drinks, with smaller use as sattu and flour.
Where Barley Is Grown in Punjab
The main barley districts of Punjab are Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Ferozepur. Punjab is India's granary: its irrigated fields give the country's highest wheat and rice yields, and it supplies the largest share of grain to the central pool. It also grows basmati, maize, cotton, potato (including seed potato) and Kinnow.
