Mustard (sarson, rapeseed) is the main oilseed of North and East India. Its pungent kachi ghani oil is the cooking oil of Punjab, UP, Bihar, Bengal and Odisha, and its cake is a cattle feed.

The main mustard districts of West Bengal are Nadia, Murshidabad, Malda, North 24 Parganas. West Bengal is among India's largest rice producers and its biggest grower of jute and vegetables.
