About Jowar
Jowar (sorghum) is the bhakri and rotti grain of the Deccan. Rabi jowar gives white food grain, while kharif jowar and lower grades go to feed, starch and alcohol, and its stalks are valued fodder.
Where Jowar Is Grown in Telangana
The main jowar districts of Telangana are Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Sangareddy, Vikarabad. Telangana has become one of India's largest paddy producers thanks to new irrigation, and grows cotton, maize, red gram, chilli, turmeric and soybean. Nizamabad is home to the National Turmeric Board.
