Farming and Trade in Telangana
Telangana has become one of India's largest paddy producers thanks to new irrigation, and grows cotton, maize, red gram, chilli, turmeric and soybean. Nizamabad is home to the National Turmeric Board.
Farm produce is sold through regulated APMC market yards under the state's agricultural produce marketing law, run by the state agricultural marketing board, with many yards linked to eNAM. The state buys very large volumes of paddy through village purchase centres.
