About Safflower
Safflower (kardi) is a hardy rabi oilseed whose oil is low in saturated fat; it gave its name to the Saffola brand. Its area has shrunk, but it remains important on the black soils of the Deccan.
Where Safflower Is Grown in Telangana
The main safflower districts of Telangana are Medak, Sangareddy, Vikarabad. Telangana has become one of India's largest paddy producers thanks to new irrigation, and grows cotton, maize, red gram, chilli, turmeric and soybean. Nizamabad is home to the National Turmeric Board.
