About Jowar
Jowar (sorghum) is the bhakri and rotti grain of the Deccan. Rabi jowar gives white food grain, while kharif jowar and lower grades go to feed, starch and alcohol, and its stalks are valued fodder.
Where Jowar Is Grown in Rajasthan
The main jowar districts of Rajasthan are Ajmer, Bhilwara, Tonk, Udaipur. Rajasthan is India's leading producer of bajra, mustard, moth, guar, coriander, isabgol and cumin, and a major producer of moong, groundnut, barley, chana and wheat. Its dry western districts grow hardy crops on sand, while canal-fed Sri Ganganagar and Chambal-fed Hadoti are its granaries.
