About Jowar
Jowar (sorghum) is the bhakri and rotti grain of the Deccan. Rabi jowar gives white food grain, while kharif jowar and lower grades go to feed, starch and alcohol, and its stalks are valued fodder.
Where Jowar Is Grown in Tamil Nadu
The main jowar districts of Tamil Nadu are Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni. Tamil Nadu leads India in banana and is a top producer of coconut, turmeric, jasmine, tapioca, urad and groundnut. Its Cauvery delta grows rice, its western districts coconut and turmeric, Krishnagiri mango, and Madurai and Hosur its famous flowers.
