Jackfruit is Kerala's state fruit and the world's largest tree-borne fruit. It is eaten ripe as a fruit and raw as a vegetable and meat substitute, and is increasingly processed into flour, chips and ready-to-cook products.

The main jackfruit districts of West Bengal are South 24 Parganas, Jalpaiguri. West Bengal is among India's largest rice producers and its biggest grower of jute and vegetables.
