About Jackfruit
Jackfruit is Kerala's state fruit and the world's largest tree-borne fruit. It is eaten ripe as a fruit and raw as a vegetable and meat substitute, and is increasingly processed into flour, chips and ready-to-cook products.
Where Jackfruit Is Grown in Tamil Nadu
The main jackfruit districts of Tamil Nadu are Cuddalore (Panruti), Kanyakumari. Tamil Nadu leads India in banana and is a top producer of coconut, turmeric, jasmine, tapioca, urad and groundnut. Its Cauvery delta grows rice, its western districts coconut and turmeric, Krishnagiri mango, and Madurai and Hosur its famous flowers.
