What It Is
Groundnut oil is the traditional cooking oil of Gujarat, Saurashtra and much of South India, sold as filtered (kachi ghani style) or refined oil.
How It Is Made
Groundnut pods are shelled, and kernels are crushed in expellers; filtered oil is sold directly, or refined, bleached and deodorised for refined oil. The cake is used for feed.

Households, restaurants and snack makers, especially in Gujarat, Maharashtra and the South.
Quality and Standards
Oil is checked for free fatty acids, colour and adulteration. Food products must meet FSSAI standards and labelling rules; many are also sold under the AGMARK grading mark, and exporters follow the buying country's rules on residues and contaminants.
Trade and Exports
Hundreds of oil mills operate around Rajkot, Gondal and Junagadh, and groundnut oil prices are among the most watched in Saurashtra.
