Groundnut (peanut) is India's leading oilseed export. It is crushed for groundnut oil, eaten as kernels and snacks, and exported as hand-picked kernels to Southeast Asia.
Where Groundnut Is Grown in Tamil Nadu
The main groundnut districts of Tamil Nadu are Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Pudukkottai, Namakkal, Vellore. Tamil Nadu leads India in banana and is a top producer of coconut, turmeric, jasmine, tapioca, urad and groundnut. Its Cauvery delta grows rice, its western districts coconut and turmeric, Krishnagiri mango, and Madurai and Hosur its famous flowers.
