About Peas
Green peas (matar) are India's favourite winter vegetable and its most important frozen vegetable. Dry peas are also used as a cheaper pulse, and India imports yellow peas when its pulse crop is short.
Where Peas Is Grown in Punjab
The main peas districts of Punjab are Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana. Punjab is India's granary: its irrigated fields give the country's highest wheat and rice yields, and it supplies the largest share of grain to the central pool. It also grows basmati, maize, cotton, potato (including seed potato) and Kinnow.
