Where Guava Is Grown in Bihar
The main guava districts of Bihar are Patna, Vaishali, Nalanda. Bihar grows rice and wheat across the fertile Gangetic plain, high-yield rabi maize in the Kosi and Purnea belt, and is famous for Muzaffarpur's Shahi Litchi and Mithila's makhana. It is also a big producer of potato, onion, vegetables, masoor and banana.

Quality and Price Notes
Guava is mostly eaten fresh. It is also made into pulp, juice, nectar, jelly, cheese (a firm sweet) and toffee, especially in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Pink-fleshed guava gives an attractive pulp and juice, which has helped the new varieties.
Fruit is picked at colour break, when it turns from dark to light green, and graded by size and freedom from fruit-fly and anthracnose damage. Large VNR Bihi and Taiwan Pink fruit is often wrapped in foam nets and sold in modern retail.
Winter guava (mrig bahar) from Prayagraj and Kaushambi is of the best quality and price. Rainy-season fruit is cheaper because of fruit-fly damage. Wilt disease that kills trees is a long-term threat in several states.
