Farming and Trade in Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh is called the rice bowl of India. Paddy dominates its farms, and the state runs one of India's largest paddy procurement operations. It also grows maize, chana, tur, minor millets, guava, tomato and many forest products.
Farm produce is sold through regulated APMC market yards under the state's agricultural produce marketing law, run by the state agricultural marketing board, with many yards linked to eNAM. Paddy is bought on a very large scale by the state through cooperative societies.
