About Bajra
Bajra (pearl millet) is the hardiest of India's grains, grown on sandy soils with very little rain. It is a winter staple in the north-west and is now sold nationwide as a nutritious millet.
Where Bajra Is Grown in Maharashtra
The main bajra districts of Maharashtra are Ahmednagar, Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Beed. Maharashtra is India's leading producer of onion, grapes, pomegranate, banana (with Gujarat and Andhra), tur, soybean, cotton and sugarcane, and of Alphonso mango and Nagpur orange. Its mandis at Lasalgaon, Latur, Sangli, Solapur and Vashi are among the best known in India.

Kharif: sown with the monsoon, harvested September–October; summer crop in Gujarat. Exact arrival dates in Maharashtra depend on local sowing and the monsoon, so check current arrivals before planning purchases.
