Farming and Trade in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand's plains in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar grow rice, wheat, basmati and sugarcane, while its hills grow mandua (ragi), jhangora, rajma, apples, litchi, potato and spices. Hill produce is increasingly sold as organic and speciality food.
Farm produce is sold through regulated APMC market yards under the state's agricultural produce marketing law, run by the state agricultural marketing board, with many yards linked to eNAM. Hill produce is also marketed through state and cooperative brands.
