Farming and Trade in Mizoram
Mizoram grows ginger, banana, oranges, passion fruit, chillies including bird's eye chilli, and anthurium flowers. Farmers are shifting from jhum (shifting cultivation) to settled horticulture and rubber.
Mizoram's farmers traditionally practised jhum, but the state has encouraged a move to settled horticulture, rubber, oil palm and bamboo. Ginger, turmeric, banana, oranges, passion fruit, bird's-eye chilli and anthurium flowers are important cash crops. Aizawl is the main market, and produce travels by road through Silchar to the rest of India.
Produce is sold through local markets and traders to Assam and beyond.

Exports from Mizoram
