About Ragi
Ragi (finger millet, nachni, mandua) is the most nutritious common millet, rich in calcium and iron. It is eaten as mudde, rotti and malt in the south and is a growing health-food grain across India.
Where Ragi Is Grown in Maharashtra
The main ragi districts of Maharashtra are Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Nashik, Palghar. Maharashtra is India's leading producer of onion, grapes, pomegranate, banana (with Gujarat and Andhra), tur, soybean, cotton and sugarcane, and of Alphonso mango and Nagpur orange. Its mandis at Lasalgaon, Latur, Sangli, Solapur and Vashi are among the best known in India.
