About Amla
Amla (Indian gooseberry) is a hardy fruit rich in vitamin C and central to Ayurveda. It is made into murabba, candy, juice, powder and chyawanprash; Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh is its best-known centre.
Where Amla Is Grown in Tamil Nadu
The main amla districts of Tamil Nadu are Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Salem. Tamil Nadu leads India in banana and is a top producer of coconut, turmeric, jasmine, tapioca, urad and groundnut. Its Cauvery delta grows rice, its western districts coconut and turmeric, Krishnagiri mango, and Madurai and Hosur its famous flowers.
